Rick Ayrton - Underwater photography

I have been taking underwater images for over ten years. It all started when I acquired an old video camera and housing, after an initial learning period, upgraded my equipment and went on to produce a number of short underwater videos. I met film producer Crispin Sadler and was asked to contribute as a cameraman on the Deep Wreck Mysteries television series.

I use an Inspiration rebreather for the majority of my diving both deep and shallow, I am IANTD tri-mix certified (to 100metres) and have taken stills and video at these depths but am equally happy in the shallows where lesser time constraints in terms of decompression mean there is more time to perfect the image.

Still photography is for my own enjoyment and find the challenge of getting the image that captures the moment underwater very rewarding.

I am a member of Clifton Sub-Aqua Club as well as the Bristol Underwater Photography Group and also the British Society of Underwater Photographers.

I am available for commissions.
